I quit/do not use social media because it’s irritating and borderline horrific on multiple levels. Number 1 reason why social media should not be used is: 1. It is free. Nothing in the world is free and I have to pay for it in some other way or form , which is my attention. Secondly I truly think there’s some ulterior motive beyond advertise and stuff. I do not know whose agency is being enacted to work on me. Then there is this mass surveillance issue as well.
I do not see a point on using social media tbh. There is potentially no upside to it. People just post their highlights and make many envious, they in turn post their highlights and it’s nothing but mutual vain boasting. Those are some reasons why I do not use social media.
